Daniel's obituary
Daniel Ricardo Velarde passed away in his home surrounded by friends and family on October 24th, 2024. He was born on October 28, 1970, and grew up in Lima, Peru. It’s where he met the people he loves the most and spent most of his life. In 1989, he met his wonderful wife, Sandra. After they married in 1997, they moved to the United States in 2001, where they welcomed their firstborn daughter, Daniela. In 2003, Daniel and Sandra decided to grow their family of three into a family of four, introducing Camila to the world. One thing is for certain about Daniel: he loved nothing more than his three beautiful girls. In 2007, they moved to Charlotte, NC and have been there since then. There, he watched his beautiful daughters blossom into the women they are today and deepened his relationship and love for his wife.
Daniel was loved by many in the Charlotte community. You could find him working at your local Trader Joe’s or on the soccer field refereeing a game. If he wasn’t at either of those places, you could find him at his home working on his beloved lawn or playing indoor soccer every Monday night. In March of 2023, Daniel was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer which he fought long and valiantly against. If you knew Daniel, you felt his unwavering kindness and passion to always lend a helping hand or provide you with a laugh. Daniel was a beacon of light in the lives of all the people he crossed paths with. We will hold a funeral service on Tuesday, October 29th, at St. Matthews Catholic Church. We will hold a closed casket viewing beginning at 12; if you are only able to attend the mass, please arrive by 12:45. Please wear typical funeral attire or a soccer jersey if you own one.
