Daniel's obituary
Daniel Scott Harris, affectionately known as “Danny” or “Dan the Man,” passed away on February 19, 2025, in Wilmer, Alabama, at the age of 66. Born on April 25, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, he embraced life with adventure, laughter, and resilience.
Dan proudly served his country as a mechanic specialist in the United States Air Force from 1978 to 1982. His service took him across the East Coast and to Germany, where he earned awards for leadership, marksmanship, and dedication. His military years shaped his determination and skill, qualities he carried throughout his life.
An outdoor enthusiast at heart, Dan found joy in fishing, hiking, biking, and working on cars. He cultivated a love for gardening and possessed a unique talent - riding a unicycle as a clown. His adventurous spirit was matched by his sense of humor; he was a jokester who could bring laughter to any room. No matter what life threw his way, he always wore a smile and lived life on his own terms.
He is survived by his daughters Jessica Harris and Jamie Harris; his brothers Michael (Mary Ellen) Harris and Kenneth (Gina) Harris; his nieces Emily (John) Latty and Lauren Harris; and his nephew Nicholas Harris. He was predeceased by his parents, Dolores and Donald Harris.
A memorial service will be held on April 10, 2025, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. The service will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 11:00 AM.
Dan’s legacy is one of light and dark, yet the unwavering ability to find joy in it all. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
