Daniel Albert O’Connor passed away April 20, 2020 after contracting COVID-19. He celebrated his 100th birthday with his family (virtually) on April 8. He leaves behind his son, Paul O’Connor, daughter Madeline O’Connor, daughter-in-law Leslie O’Connor, and granddaughters Kate O’Connor and Liza O’Connor. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Rochelle, in 1997. A decorated vereran of WWII, Dan worked in banking in New York before moving to Long Island in 1984. Most recently he lived Bellport where he pursued his love of sailing. Among his friends Dan was known for his convivial personality and love of life. His family would like to thank the staff at Village Walk retirement home for their thoughtful care and for facilitating his centennial celebration in the midst of a pandemic, and the doctors, nurses and support staff at Long Island Community Hospital for the care he received there under such challenging conditions.
