Daniel Molnar Obituary

Daniel G. Molnar, 75, of Walbridge, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo Center. He was born on November 28, 1948 in Toledo, Ohio to Emery and Irene (Fejes) Molnar. Daniel was a 1966 graduate of Lake High School, where he excelled at football and wrestling. He was selected for the Lake Wrestling Hall of Fame Team. Daniel attended the University of Toledo, before joining the family business, Molnar’s Hunk and Chunk, making his world-famous sausages. He continued his career as a meat cutter working for, K and J Meats, Pioneer Packing, and retiring from Kroger in 2017. Dan married his wife, Karen Nitkiewicz on August 17, 1985, and together they raised five children. He loved his kids and grandkids and enjoyed coaching their sports teams as they grew up. Dan helped start the Lake Township Soccer program and was an umpire for many years. He will be dearly missed.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Karen Molnar; children, James (Michelle) Molnar, Matthew (Samantha) Molnar, Daniel (Melissa) Molnar, Michael (Janey) Molnar, and Stacy (Brock) Bell; grandchildren, Bode, Leland, Adel, Emery, Jackson, Sawyer, Dominic, Danielle (Dan), Michael, and Leilani (Stewart); great-grandchildren, London, Ollie, Ansel, Ford, and Kal; his siblings, Butch (Susan) Molnar, and Fran Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cher (Nick) Goeder, Ed (Carla), Rick, Gene (Lori), Doug, Gary, and Julie Nitkiewicz. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly (Mike) Thompson; and brother-in-law, John Johnson.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 2-8:00 p.m. where a scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Church (Walbridge, OH) where family will greet guests after 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Lake Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the family or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
