Glenna Sollenberger

Br. Mappus was one of our favorite people on the Louisiana District. We loved staying with him and Mabel when we were in the area. I still remember the armadillo he shot and the tennis shoes that fit him perfectly. And we really appreciated his interest in the Gullah Bible Translation project. When the Gospel of Luke was published in Gullah, we gave him a copy. We didn't know he used to speak Gullah when he was growing up in South Carolina. But he told us afterwards, and said that reading Luke in Gullah brought him back to his childhood. We also enjoyed hearing his stories, especially about raising soft-shell crabs. We will miss him here on the earth, but we look forward to seeing him again in heaven.
