Daniel's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Daniel Lopez, a man of kindness and vitality, who passed away on December 11, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was returning home from a vacation and passed away unexpectedly in Atlanta prior to departure for Raleigh. Born on October 2, 1963, in Guadalajara, Mexico, Daniel spent most of his adult life in the United States, where his infectious smile, warmth, and laughter touched the lives of countless individuals.
Daniel's parents, Maria Guadalupe Guillen and German Guillermo Lopez Navarro, preceded him into eternal life. He is survived by his brother German and his three sisters: Tey, Susana, and Sandra. All his siblings are currently living in Guadalajara, except for Susana, who resides in Wilmington, CA with her husband Pepe. Daniel is also survived by his brother-in-law Alvaro, four nieces: Brianda, Jacquelyn, Michelle, and Jocelyn, and his three nephews: Emmanuel, Carlo, and German Jr. He will also be greatly missed by his friend Jose Neftali whom Dan had assisted in relocating from his native Costa Rica to Mexico.
Daniel spent nearly 40 years of his life with his "brother" and beloved friend, Tom Koch. They shared a home in Raleigh, NC for the past 28 years. Tom survives him today, along with his other best friend, his dog Dakota, who added great joy to Daniel's life.
All are invited to attend a special Memorial Mass at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Raleigh, on Monday, January 27th at 10am, followed by a reception in the parish hall.
