Daniel's obituary
Daniel James Kelly, lovingly known by friends and family as Willis, yet widely recognized as Daniel, passed away peacefully at his home in Irving, Texas on October 30, 2025. Born on October 13, 1952, Daniel will always be remembered for his wit, dependability, loyalty, and love.
Daniel is survived by his devoted daughter, Michelle Smith, and cherished granddaughters, Nevaeh Demalade, Nichole Pederson, and Kaydence Ahrvide. His loving daughter-in-law, Laurel Ahrvide, also survives him. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Joan Garty and James Kelly, and his sister, Jennifer Huizenga.
A man of many passions, Daniel had a soft spot for classic sitcoms, especially Married with Children and Two and a Half Men, among other '90s hits. He was a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears and the Dallas Cowboys, always cheering with gusto from the living room recliner. The melodic sounds of 92.5 kept his spirits up and connected him to music he loved.
Daniel also had a penchant for automobile racing and car shows. His fascination with Corvettes was fierce, and he owned several throughout his lifetime, with the convertibles always being his favorite. His long-standing admiration for these classic cars was apparent in his enthusiastic participation in related events.
In addition to his love for cars, Daniel held his professional accomplishments close to his heart. He was extremely proud of the time he spent owning and running the family restaurant, The Wagon Wheel, in Chicago alongside his father. His 20-year-long career as a transmission salesman and mechanic showcased his dependable character, as he was known for his trustworthiness and commitment.
We will cherish his memory, remembering his love, loyalty, and the wonderful moments he gave us. Daniel's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his impact will never be forgotten.
