Daniel's obituary

We celebrate the life of Daniel John Kaiser, 62, who left this world too soon on June 17th, 2025.

Dan was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, in 1962 to Roy Albert and Margaret Doris Kaiser. He was the fourth of five sons, all of whom grew up to have profound careers in the Arts. Dan, affectionately known as Danny by his family and friends, grew up performing as a tap dancer in numerous variety shows and state fairs with his brothers, Roy, Kenny, Kevin, and Russell. He enjoyed playing baseball and performed with Wayne Newton at Musicarnival in Cleveland and in the Kraft Music Hall Christmas Special before taking up ballet at age 14. At 16, he graduated high school early and moved to Philadelphia to join his brothers Roy and Kevin at the Pennsylvania Ballet and begin his life as a professional dancer. Dan had a fulfilling ballet career, rising to the rank of soloist before retiring due to a back injury in 1989.

Upon retirement, Dan moved his family to Delaware to take the reins of Delaware Ballet (formerly known as Delaware Regional Ballet Company) after Marion Tracy.  He directed the school and company from 1991 until 2013, impacting many young artists' lives and instilling the love of dance in thousands of students and community members over the years. After passing directorship to his daughter, he continued his involvement in the dance world as a teacher and mentor and maintained an invaluable presence in the studio until just before his passing.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Albert Kaiser, Sr. and Margaret Doris Kaiser, and his wife, Tracy Lynn Kaiser. He is survived by his brother, Roy Albert Kaiser, Jr. and wife Melissa DeRuiter, his brother Kenny Kaiser and wife Sue Kaiser, his brother Kevin Kaiser and wife Jen Small, his brother Russell Kaiser and wife Margaret Tracey, former spouse, Paula Kaiser, daughter and daughter-in-law Brittany and Elisa Kaiser, son, Joshua Kaiser, grandson, Karson Kaiser, stepdaughter, Jenna Ferber, step-granddaughter Juliette, stepson, Michael Schwartzmeyer, many beloved nieces and nephews, and his dog, Zak.

Dan loved camping, and frequented Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Cape Henlopen State Park in Delaware in his recent years. He was an avid Nascar fan, especially #24, and a highlight of his life was getting to drive a stock car around the track at Dover Downs, in full gear at full speed. He was a big fan of breakfast, especially eggs benedict, and enjoyed cooking. He loved his truck, knew the value of a good dad joke, was mildly fashionable, and appreciated a simple life. Dan was sensitive, funny, and loved beyond measure, and he will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 23rd, 2025, from 10:00am-12:00pm at Pippin Funeral Home in Camden, DE. Family, friends, and acquaintances are welcome and invited to share their memories.
