Daniel's obituary
Daniel John Halliman, aged 72, passed away on July 29, 2021 in Port Orange, Florida. Dan was born on April 11, 1949 in Buffalo, NY to Joseph and Mildred Halliman. He married shortly before Army deployment to Vietnam c.1970, and had daughter, Lisa. Dan later married Wendy Wershoven in September 1985 in Hamburg, NY, and had daughters Liana and Kristina. Dan and Wendy spent the remainder of their lives together, with Wendy passing on August 2, 2021.
Dan valued constantly learning and evolving throughout his lifetime - reflected in his career as a Professor of Automotive Technology at Erie Community College for 25+ years, his 35+ year personal commitment to addiction recovery, and becoming ordained minister in the Wiccan faith through the All Saints Chapel of Faith Church - Black Forest Seminary. He performed many handfastings, alongside Wendy, and offered wisdom from his life experiences. In his later years, he shared lessons from recovery with others in the Port Orange area.
He also loved painting, evolving from paint-by-numbers to originals over the years, learning to play the electronic drums, and watching rocket launches from Cape Canaveral at the beach.
Dan is survived by his daughters, Lisa Halliman, Kristina Halliman, and Liana Halliman, as well as the numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws he kept in touch with over the years. In addition to his surviving kin, he and Wendy shared their love and opened their home to so many. Though he and Wendy did not spend the majority of their lives in Florida, they formed some of their closest "chosen" family ties there, notably Jordan, Matt, Cassie, Frank, and AJ. We acknowledge Dan and Wendy touched so many lives and acted as father, mother, brother, sister, or beloved friend for a plethora in Western New York, Florida, and across the country.
