Daniel's obituary
Reverend Daniel Glenn Gibson, age 59, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, February 6, 2022.
He was born on July 17, 1962 to Christa and Ernest Gibson in Rome, NY. After graduating from Maranatha Christian Academy, he went on to study at Baptist Bible College and later graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY. After graduation, he met his wonderful wife, Alissa, and they married in 1987. They continued to stay in New York state to establish their family while he pursued a career in electrical engineering with several companies, including IBM. After completing a variety of projects for friends and family, he transitioned to building his own carpentry business furnishing custom kitchens and other fine woodworking pieces. The Lord later led his family to Alexandria, VA to serve in full time ministry at Calvary Road Baptist Church as the Worship Pastor for 16 years.
Dan is survived by his wife, Alissa Gibson (Alexandria, VA) and five children: Danielle Bragg (Matt), of Great Falls, MT; Kyle Gibson (Alexandra) of Colonial Heights, VA; Justin Gibson (Kristine) of Hopewell, VA; Stephanie Mertens (Zachary) of Yulee, FL; and Julie Poppell (Caleb) of Petersburg, VA; four grandchildren, Elijah Bragg, Gabrielle Gibson, Oliver Gibson, and Aria Joyce Gibson. He is also survived by his father, Ernest Gibson of Portage, IN; Two brothers, Terry (Renee) Gibson of Portage, IN; Scott (Dawn) Gibson of Rushsylvania, OH; and two sisters, Diane (Joe) Staton of Frankfurt, IN; Christy (Mark) Hurd of Walker, MI as well as many, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Christa Gibson.
An avid musician, woodworker, minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and friend to all, Dan leaves behind a legacy of worship as a lifestyle. He gave fully of his time, talent, and treasure to serve Christ and others, and was always striving to honor his Lord with every aspect of his life.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Calvary Road Baptist Church (6811 Beulah Street, Alexandria, VA 22310) at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting financial contributions toward a fund established to cover medical bills and other unforeseen expenses through this transition.
