Daniel's obituary

Daniel Gonzalez Martinez, was called home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2023. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden, unexpected passing.

 Daniel was born on October 15, 1950, to Pablo and Francis Martinez in San Antonio, Texas. The oldest of six siblings, Daniel’s upbringing was industrious, unique and a true testament to the rich Tejano culture that thrives throughout South Texas.

He worked tirelessly for over 35 years as a truck driver and enjoyed his retirement by fishing, attending his grandchildren’s events while staying physically active.

He was a man of God and an active member of Sur Zarzamora Baptist Church. He touched the hearts of many with his kind words, quick humor and welcoming manner. He made an impact on many lives and will be deeply missed by all.

 Daniel is survived by his former wife and their children, Jimmy Daniel Martinez (Anna), Mark Anthony Martinez, Felissa Dawn Cortez (Daniel), Angelica Maria Vela (Rene "Bo"). Additionally, by his loving wife of 30 years, Zulema Martinez and their son, Daniel Leal Martinez  (Johannah) and step-children Jessica Bowie (Jonathan), Erika Deleon (Adam) and Priscilla Soto (Pete) along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Tuesday April 24, 2023, at Castle Ridge Mortuary 10901 W. Loop 1604 N. San Antonio TX 78254, from

5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday, April 25, 2023 beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a prayer at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at 11:45 a.m. at San Jose Burial Park 8235 Mission Rd, San Antonio, TX 78214.
