Daniel's obituary

Daniel was born in Long Branch, NJ to Marie E. (Scridlow) Dunphy and Thomas F. Dunphy. Dan's father Thomas passed away while he was young and the Dunphy clan all rallied around their mother Marie. Honor and hard work were virtues Dan learned early and taught to his family. Dan moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1967 where he was an owner or manager of a several restaurants and in the late 70s and 80s in the restaurant services business. In the 90's, he moved to Cortez, CO where his sister and best friend, Doris Dove resides. There he was a partner in the Four States Food Service until retired.

Daniel was married to Johnny-Faye in August 1960 and they had four children, Michael, Richard, Teri and John, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They divorced in 1982 and he later married Jalene and had one daughter Jalena in 1985.

He loved to play games like dominoes and cards and was very competitive! But, his favorite past time was just to talk with his family. He talked to his kids almost every day, sometimes for hours. He really cared about what was going on in their lives.

If you knew Dan, you had a friend. He was one of those guys that could put a smile on anyone's face. Dan spoke with people not at them. He didn't see status or background instead he saw souls and so he cared for them. Evident by the kind words spoken to a cashier, soft words to the downcast, and his friendly smile. If you had an opportunity to know Dan, you had the rare opportunity to experience vintage class and love.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John A, Thomas F and sisters Florence J, Ruth E, Patricia A, Marie A, and his second son Richard. He is survived by his daughters Teri, her husband Tim and grandsons TJ and Josh, Jalena. Sons John, Richard’s wife Janice and granddaughter Danielle and Michael, his wife Pamela and grandchildren Kristen and Derek. Daniel is survived by his brothers James R, Donald T and, Allan E and his sister Doris E. There are also many nieces and nephews.

Daniel was loved by many located through out this country so Memorial services will be held in family locations (AZ, NJ, MO, IA, CO and WA).
