Daniel's obituary
While being loved and adored by family and friends, Daniel also touched the lives of many others throughout the country, and even abroad, through his research, writing, teaching and mentoring in advanced scientific areas. After earning his Masters Degree in Molecular Biology and his Ph.D. in Genetics from Stony Brook University, Daniel had a lengthy career that included being an Associate Director of Bioinformatics at Bristol Myers Squibb, a Professor at the University of Houston, and an active contributor to the Human Genome Project - a worldwide effort aimed at expanding our understanding of who we are. As a prolific writer who also had extensive knowledge of computer sciences, Daniel helped lead and grow a wide range of the biological sciences that we have today. But mostly, he was best known by family, friends, students, and colleagues, as a kind and generous man who always looked for ways to use his talents and resources to help others.
Son of the late Carol Gillespie Davison, he is survived by his wife, Vivian Davison, two sons, Jacob and Geoffrey Davison, his father, the Rev. E. Burton Davison, his brother and sister-in-law, Michael Davison and Xiu (Sunnie) Chen, his sister and brother-in-law Ellen Davison and Chris Wright, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please send contributions, in memory of Daniel, to the Morrisville United Methodist Church at 501 W. Maple Ave., Morrisville, PA. 19067, the church where services were held and where Daniel and his family were active members.
