Daniel's obituary

Daniel Conway Burns, 68, died March 29, 2018 at the Chandler Regional Hospital. He was born November 23, 1949 in Anaconda, Montana to Oliver Connelly and Helen Louise Nash Burns.

Dan grew up in Butte, Montana and graduated from Butte High School in 1968. Dan spent 7 years in the US Navy, he served on the USS James E Kyes, the USS Mount Vernon, He served during Vietnam with the River Division 590 and as an advisor with River Patrol Group 54. He patrolled the rivers in a PBR and had fond memories of the people he served with. He worked many years as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for various companies here in Maricopa County, Arizona. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 39 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 7401.

Dan met and married Beverly Sue Jackson Lewis on July 9, 1987 in Mesa, Maricopa, Arizona.

Dan's greatest passion was getting out on the open road on his motorcycle, although he no longer could ride, his love of riding never left him. Dan and his wife Beverly loved to travel, they spent their retirement traveling with the goal of visiting as many National Parks as possible. They also traveled to Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales, where they got to see where their families started. They both also loved to cruise and went on several including through the Panama Canal. Every where they went they found new adventures and always came back with amusing stories to tell.

He is preceded by his parents and his grandson Tyler Forrest James-Lewis.

He is survived by his wife Beverly, his daughter Jessi Ricks Sant and her husband Jason of Las Vegas, NV, his step daughter Leanna Renee Lewis of Chandler, AZ, step sons Forrest Palmer Lewis Jr and his wife Josephine of Gilbert, AZ and SSgt Matthew Vernon Lewis and his wife Erin of San Antonio, Texas. Grandchildren, Alexandria Lewis, Forrest Parry, Maddison Parry, Evan Lewis, Conor Lewis and great grandsons Vernon Lewis and Ryan Parry. He is also survived by his brothers Bob Burns and his wife Helen of Mesa, AZ and Fred Burns and his wife Betty of Helena, MT and his niece Pam Cranmer and her husband Butch of Helena, MT, nephews Scott Burns and his wife Michelle of Mesa, AZ and Wade Burns of Peoria, AZ

There will be a private memorial service and then internment at Mesa City Cemetery. The family requests that any and all donations be given to any Veterans Organization of your choice.
