Dana's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dana Marie Griffin at age 72 on December 19, 2023.

She passed away at Powdersville Acute Nursing Home in Easley, South Carolina. She suffered a diabetic coma in August 2023 which was complicated by a previous diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease that rapidly worsened Dana's health.

Dana was born on April 21, 1951 as the second of four children born to Pasquale (Pat) and Julia Magnone at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. In April of 1956 the family moved to Blauvelt, New York where Dana attended Cottage Lane Grammar School, Tappan Zee Junior and Senior High School and graduated in 1969. As a little girl Dana played the violin in school, sang in the church choir at Greenbush Presbyterian Church, and was active in the Brownies and Girl Scouts of America.

After graduating from high school Dana was employed as a Telephone Operator with Bell Telephone in Nyack, New York. Interestingly, this was an occupation that Dana gravitated to throughout her life, working as a PBX Operator at two different hospitals and Dispatcher for two different Private Security Companies.

Dana married Frank Michael Griffin on April 6, 1974 in Nanuet, New York. Dana and Mike divorced in 1999. In 2003, while living in Visalia California Dana was reunited with Paul Peters, a long time old family friend who also grew up in Blauvelt and from that point on Dana and Paul became life long partners and best friends.

They moved to Anderson, South Carolina in 2005 where Dana retired as a PBX Operator from Greenville Memorial Hospital in 2017. Dana loved her family and was quite proud of her children and grandchildren's accomplishments.

She had a heart of gold and was a devoted mother,

She resided in Colorado for a number of years as well.

Dana was preceded in death by her parents Pat (1988) and Julia (2015).

Dana is survived by her partner Paul, daughters Jennifer Griffin (partner Rob Radin) of Long Beach, California and Michelle Griffin (partner Brett Ellison) of Sealy, Texas and six grandchildren Ethan O'Mailia 38 (wife Erica), Juliana Radin 10, Trinity Snyder 21, Trystan Snyder 19, Stihl Ellison 14, Roy Ellison 8, and two great grandchildren Taisley O'Mailia 5 and Orlin O'Mailia 3. Dana is also survived by her brothers Alan Magnone (wife Cindy) of Los Osos, California and Lewis Magnone (partner Ruth Espinoza) of Westminster, California, and sister Mary Babagian (husband Peter) of Visalia, California. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, an aunt, two uncles and cousins. You are forever in our hearts Dana and we will love and miss you always

Dana was cremated in Greenville, South Carolina. On the weekend of her birthday in April 2024 a private memorial ceremony and celebration of life will be held at the home of Mary and Peter Babagian in Visalia, California.

Family and friends are welcomed to attend. Please feel free to contact any of her children or siblings for further details. May she rest in peace.
