He is survived by two sisters, Mary Margaret (Maggie) Gubanski and husband James and Laura Ellen Wilson, who reside in Anthony, New Mexico. He is also survived by a brother, Harold (Hal) Osthus and wife Kathleen, of Wilmington, Connecticut. He is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Dan was born in Seattle, Washington on January 6, 1952. He grew up in Renton, Washington and graduated from Kentridge High School in Kent, Washington. He worked as a night janitor for many years at Southcenter Mall in Seattle. He moved from the Seattle area in 2006 to live on the New Mexico family farm where he helped care for many of the farm animals, whom he loved and enjoyed. He lived on the farm with his sister, Maggie and husband James, sister Laurie, niece Mellissa Kirby and husband Tim and their children, Alyssa, Reece, Taylor, Brynnen, Larson and Brody. Family gatherings frequently included nephew, Jeremyah Pairis, and son, Cody, as well as, many other great friends.
Dan brought joy and light to all those who knew him and he never left you without a smile and a big hug. He loved getting to know and talking to new people.
Dan spent many hours studying the weather. He loved fishing, bowling, and playing both horseshoes and ping pong. He also enjoyed eating a good meal and spending time with his pet cat, Baby.
Dan was very much loved and cared for by his entire family. We will miss Dan immensely. May God look after him until we see him again.
