Dan's obituary
Daniel “Dan” Hinsch, 57, Born June 4th, 1966 passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Diane Hinsch (Adams) who fearlessly stood by his side through his battle with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Dan is also survived by his Son Daniel Hinsch (Kristen Caldwell), Daughter Brandy (Leo) Lazoroski, and Grandchildren Charlie Hinsch, Nadia and Felix Lazoroski. Dan is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Vivian Hinsch.
Dan spent most of his life as an Aircraft Mechanic, working for the Gary Jet Center/Boeing E.F.O where he recently celebrated his 25th anniversary. Dan loved what he did and shared his love and knowledge with those he worked with.
Outside of work, Dan had many interests throughout his life. Dan loved to collect and ride motorcycles, racking up thousands of miles across multiple bikes both commuting to work and long distance riding. Dan was a member of the Iron Butt Association where he completed the Saddle Sore 1000 twice as well as the Bun Burner 1500. In his later years, Dan enjoyed building his own computers, gaming, collecting playing cards, and shooting guns. Dan had a soft spot for animals and rescued many such as dogs, cats, salamanders, pigeons, turtles and many others. If he found a hurt animal, he was going to bring it home. This love for creatures drove his interest in beekeeping. Dan was a member of the local bee club and kept bees of his own.
Dan also enjoyed spending time with his family. Weekends were spent taking mini trips to Baileys, farmers markets, farm stands, and visiting interesting restaurants and diners with his wife. He enjoyed taking the grandchildren to the pumpkin patch in the fall and flying kites on windy days. Some of the most memorable times were spent walking around Brookfield Zoo or the Science and Industry Museum in Chicago.
Please Join the Family for a Celebration of Dan’s Life luncheon on Wednesday, June 19th from 1pm to 4pm at the Hobart Community Center located at 111 E Old Ridge Rd, Hobart, IN 46342. Plan to have a lunch of some of Dan’s favorite foods and share your favorite memories with family and friends.
