Dale's obituary

Dale Milan Wilson passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the OSF Richard L Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL after a hard fought battle with cancer. Dale was born on August 7, 1951 to Stanley and Lorene Wilson. Both his parents and his sister-in-law, Chris Wilson, preceded him in passing.

He is survived by his wife Diane Wilson, Towanda, his six children, Brenda Wilson, Herrin, Anthony Wilson, Arrowsmith, Vanessa Stanhouse, Bloomington, Jeremy James, Normal, Nathan (Kristy) James, Wanship, UT, and Heather (Tim) Cavinder, Bloomington. His 8 grandchildren, Erika Moore, Colton Stanhouse, Brenden Stanhouse, Aurora James, Ryan Cavinder, Aiden Cavinder, Natali James and Keanon James and his dog Montgomery (Monte) were the light of his life. He also leaves behind two brothers, Ray (Jan) Wilson, Arrowsmith and Dave (Jone) Wilson, Grapevine, TX, five nieces and nephews. Dale was blessed to have many close friends including his high school classmates and Gary and Marla Brotherton.

Dale was a 1969 graduate of Saybrook Arrowsmith High School. He worked for Xerox as a service technician for 37 years, retiring in 2016.

Throughout his life, Dale was known for his kind spirit, making people laugh and always helping others. He was an emergency medical technician (EMT) and firefighter for many years, serving as the Assistant Chief for the Saybrook/Arrowsmith Fire Department for much of that time. He enjoyed wood working, creating stained glass art, camping, and spending time with his family and his dogs.

Dale was one of the best husbands, fathers and grandfathers, always putting his loved ones first and ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. His last request for those he loved was to “Live life with No Regrets.”

Dale continued to help others, even after his passing. His wishes were to donate his body for medical research to hopefully help find a cure for this horrible disease and prevent others from suffering. Dale did not want a funeral or visitation, choosing to have his friends and family remember the good times he had with them instead. Memorials can be provided to the Dale Wilson Go Fund Me account to assist with medical bills. https://gf.me/u/x8yvcv
