Dale was the oldest of six children born to Robert and Janet Lanz. Born in Bellflower, he lived most of his life in Southern California. As a young person he was actively involved in scouting, which helped fuel his love for exploring the outdoors. Dale attended St. John Bosco High School from the years of 1972-1974, moving to Northern California halfway through his junior year where he graduated from …
