Dale's obituary
Dale Robert Lanz
1/28/1957 – 9/26/2024
Dale was the oldest of six children born to Robert and Janet Lanz. Born in Bellflower, he lived most of his life in Southern California. As a young person he was actively involved in scouting, which helped fuel his love for exploring the outdoors. Dale attended St. John Bosco High School from the years of 1972-1974, moving to Northern California halfway through his junior year where he graduated from Piner High School in 1975. After a couple years at Santa Rosa Junior College, he finished his education with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Sacramento State in 1979.
Dale would return to Southern California and meet the love of his life, Monica, while working for the city of Artesia. Four years later, they eloped to Pismo Beach accompanied by Monica's daughter, Keri . Dale began his thirty year long career with the Metro Transit Authority in Los Angeles in 1989. Two years later, they were blessed with their daughter, Kelsey Renee in June of 1991. Dale and Monica settled down in their home in Lakewood where they would raise their family and live out their years together. When Dale was not dedicated to work or family, he found joy in meditating with his Zen group and cheering on the Dodgers, whether from home or by going to games with Monica. He also enjoyed playing Magic the Gathering, poker, and watching anything DC related, his favorite being Batman.
Dale was also a well loved grandfather and loved to share his passions and interests with his grandchildren. He could be found showing them his garden, grilling for his family, and teaching them holiday traditions, specifically, Halloween and Christmas.
Dale was preceded in death by his sister Judy, and he is survived by his wife Monica, daughters Keri Clark (Don) and Kelsey Lanz (Hosny), mother Janet Lanz, father Robert Lanz and siblings Jim Lanz (Lisa), Brian Lanz (Danielle), Barbara McCamish (Dave) and Nancy Bade (Dave). Dale also leaves behind six grandchildren, Mackenzie Clark, Morgan Clark, Regan Clark, Cassidy Beagle, Ruby Abdelhamid and Teague Abdelhamid.
Life was short and you missed some of the best years that have yet to come. We will miss you and look forward to the day we meet again.
