Dale's obituary
Dale Arthur Heidemann, 83, a life-long resident of Grant Park, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024 surrounded by his families love.
Dale was born in February of 1941 in Grant Park, IL to the late Arthur and Lillian Heidemann. He graduated in 1959 from Grant Park High School where he was; President of the FFA, on the basketball team, a representative in student council, and a staff member of the school’s newspaper. Dale was dedicated to his profession, spending his entire career, over 40 years, advancing within NICOR Gas. Along with his full-time career, raising a family, and being a pillar of the community, in his spare time, Dale taught the High School Level Sunday School class at Zion Lutheran Church and was a road maintenance supervisor and repairman with Will County Township he also served as the Superintendent of the Will County Fair, Sheep Department.
In April of 1962, Dale married Sharon Baker of Manteno at Zion Lutheran Church. Dale and Sharon both enjoyed traveling, and he was proud to travel throughout the United States, including, Hawaii and Alaska. Their travels happened to coincide with The Cubs away games, allowing him to also visit 24 Major League Baseball Stadiums, cheering his Beloved Cubbies to victory.
Life- long friends and companions, Dale and Sharon truly complimented each other. Together they raised three children; Gailyn and her husband Bob Johnson (Kewanee, IL), Allyson and her husband Scott Hash (Conowingo, MD), David Heidemann and his wife Liz (Normal, IL). his brother Lyle Heidemann and his wife Ann and their children Natalie (Rex) and Jason. He was also blessed with four grandchildren Jeremy Johnson (Danielle), Tyler Johnson, Cheyenne and Kaycee Hash, and three great-grandchildren Payton, Parker and Lincoln.
Along with his beloved wife, loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dear brother, Dale is also survived by a sister-in-law, niece, nephew and many close friends and colleagues.
He is now reunited with his parents and nephew Lyle John Heidemann who preceded him in death.
Dale will be remembered for unwavering strength, holding true to his traditional upbringing with the core values of love, family, and good farm living, that preserves the rural atmosphere.
He will be forever remembered for his faithful service and humility and compassion for all members of his community.
But when his family was asked to describe Dale in a single word it was appreciation. As they all cherished and appreciated him. Dale A. Heidemann of Grant Park, appreciated his successful career, appreciated the loving family he and Sharon were blessed with, and the ability to travel and see this great nation, but above all he appreciated everyday he was given on this earth, working as hard as possible each day to make his community better. Dale left a legacy of love, dedication, and appreciation.
A Visitation will be held, Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 4-7 PM, and Monday, June 24, 2024, from 9-10 AM, with a Funeral Service beginning at 10 AM, at Zion Lutheran Church, 11456 N 11000 E Road, Grant Park, IL 60940,
Burial immediately follow in church cemetery. After graveside services all are invited to the Fellowship Hall for a reception.
