Dale's obituary

Dale Andrew Golgart took a nap and woke up in the arms of Jesus on Sunday, August 6, 2023, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer and other health problems.

Dale was born on February 3, 1950, in Hammond, Indiana to Walter and Lorraine Golgart. He graduated from Hammond High School and then attended Indiana State University. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree from George Washington University, Dale went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Troy University.

He enlisted in the United States Navy on March 21, 1972, as a Hospitalman (Medic) and completed Basic Training at Great Lakes, Illinois. He was commissioned as an Ensign, Medical Service Corps, on August 1, 1980. After rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and earning numerous commendations for his service, Dale retired from active-duty service on February 1, 1997.

After retiring from the U.S. Navy, Dale worked in the private sector supporting hospitals and medical clinics, taught college courses as an adjunct professor, and even drove a school bus for a while.

Dale was married to the love of his life, Glenda, for 48 years and they had two amazing children, Dale Jr and Erin. Dale and Glenda also have 3 wonderful grandchildren.

Dale enjoyed playing golf, fishing with his grandkids, going to rodeos, watching sports, and knocking holes in the walls with his scooter.

Left to honor his memory are his wife Glenda, his son Dale Jr and daughter-in-law Andrea, of Edmond, OK, his daughter Erin Eastwood and son-in-law Clint, of Loveland, CO, and his three grandchildren, Taylor Eastwood, Drew Golgart, and Avrie Golgart. Also remaining are Dale’s three brothers, Fred Golgart, Jim Golgart, and Rick Golgart, three sisters, Alexis Forrester, Joyce Rietman, and Jean Golgart, and Glenda’s two sisters, Diane Overcash and Mary Edith Overcash, and one brother, Gary Overcash. Multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, along with other family members and numerous friends he made during his 73 years will also remember him fondly.

A Celebration of Dale’s life will be held at Elison Independent Living of Statesman Club on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at 2:00 pm.
