My dearest Uncle Dail...I miss you everyday. I am so grateful for my Auntie, Jason & Jen...as well as Jon, Alexis and Noah. They are a group to be so proud of. Rest in peace and know that you will NEVER be forgotten. Love you...yours always-Shawn Marie
Dail and Hannocho were always so hospitable and to everyone, even those they didn't know. We were visiting Chico cradle roll with our little guy and Hannocho came up and learning we were from Paradise asked if my brother was Bob Wagner, formerly who she worked for. She thought I and my son had a resemblance. Sure enough. She invited us over for Sabbath dinner and that was the beginning of an open house motto they had for us forever. We would get calls during the week asking if we could come for dinner. I later learned that in her home in Samoa, doors were always open for anyone who passed and the hospitality was at the core of both Dail and Hannocho. They outgave everyone and if someone was in trouble, Dail would try to figure out how to help. Their help extended to the Campfire and afterwards. They took good care of my husband and he and Dail became football buddies and shared in so many topics. They opened their home to us both for 6 months and we will forever be eternally grateful. His investment was in people, and this was seen throughout his life of sharing. Miss you Dail and can't wait until that glorious morning.
Hannacho, Jason, Jennifer and John,
Saying that we were stunned in hearing this tragic news is an understatement. Hannacho, I have so many good memories of us working together at Enloe during my time there, along with numerous long talks with Dail. He was my friend! Paul assures us in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, that God is the Father of compassion and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all of our troubles. My prayer for your family as you traverse this difficult time is that Jesus gives you the comfort and strength to endure.

During the summer of 1991, I took four friends with me to climb Crystal Peak (Crystal, CO). On the way down I saw what appeared to be a a bear with a cub, about 200 yards below us. It turned out to be a wolverine with its kit. That night we had a campfire with everyone in Crystal and I shared my story with Dail. The next day we took his dirt bike to North Pole Basin and hiked to where we could see the wolverine's den. I tried to get Dail to go down and check it out, but he was far too smart to mess with a wolverine. Riding double on that dirt bike was quite an unforgettable trip, especially having to push it up over the snow bridge!

Dail's parents brought him to Crystal, Colorado when he was a baby. Each summer, I watched Dail grow up to be a son, a brother, a husband, a father, and a true friend. My wife and I have always had a loving bond with the Lodge family. One summer morning, we were in California, driving along highway 1. We wanted to stop in Ft. Bragg to see the Glass Beach. I decided to give Dail a call. He was surprised that we were in California, but even more surprised that we were in Ft. Bragg. They were having breakfast about 2 blocks away from us. We joined them and had a great visit. Each summer, seeing Dail , Hannacho, Jason , and Jennifer, is like seeing family members that are united once again.

So so sad. Dail and his wife boarded my husband up for a whole half a year after the 2018 Campfire. They called and offered their hospitality before we even knew what was happening, Art commuted every other week from Southern California to Chico to continue work until his retirement in October. What friends and giving hearts this family has. Art loved to watch the games with Dail and even rooted for his team. He was always giving of himself to others and so hospitable, being sure that others had a place to go and something to do. Our two children were the age of their two kids and we did a lot together when they were young. Love you, Dail. So sorry you are gone so soon but you will always be remembered with lots of love and fond memories. Even so come Lord Jesus.

Our hearts go out to Hannacho, Jennifer, Jason, and the family. We are going to miss our special cousin DJ. From the time we were children in Crystal in the Colorado mountains, he was always positive and fun, making everyone around him feel happy and at ease. He had a special gift for seeing the goodness in people, and he was great about staying in contact with our family. He was full of good, clean mischief as a kid (ask Cindy about the snakes) and grew up to be a wonderful father, husband, and friend to all around him. We loved him and are going to miss him terribly.
We love you so much Uncle Dail! Thank you for ALL that you did for us. We will miss your hugs and infectious smile. Ia maua sou nofoaga tumau i le malo o le Atua. Alofa tele atu lava mo oe Uncle Dail. Our hearts and prayers are with you Aunty Nacho, Jason, Jen, Jon, Noah and Alexis. We love you all from Tutuila Nei ~ Fuiava, Kimberly and family~

The Lodge family was so kind and encouraging to me when I first came to Chico in 1988 to be a first and second grade teacher at Chico Oaks Adventist School. I have a specific memory of Dail as a kind and nurturing father. We had gone on a field trip to swim at the end of the school year. Jennifer was in the first grade and I remember how sensitive Dail was to Jennifer as she was feeling very modest about changing into her swimsuit. He helped her go in the bathroom alone and helped her change. I just remember how sweet he was to his sensitive little girl. A nurturing dad is such a gift. It was so evident how he loved his family.
Dearest Lodge Family,
Brock and I are so sorry for this unimaginable loss. Dail leaves a huge hole in both the Paradise and Chico church families.
Dail and Hannacho have always been so kind to us, first through my cancer treatment and then after the fire. We enjoyed Sabbath fellowship at their home one afternoon after we had “moved “ to Chico. As Dail and Hannacho scurried around the kitchen, I noticed a cookbook that I had formerly owned and used frequently. I asked if I could get a copy of my favorite recipe from it and Hannacho just offered me the whole book to keep! Such a generous and caring team of two.
Looking forward to seeing Dail in heaven when I can give him a full fledged, Covid free hug! It is our honor to assist with the service today.
Much love, Kandi and Brock
Dear Hannacho, Jason, and Jennifer,
I just read of your loss of Dail this last Sabbath. Our family is shocked and deeply saddened. Over the years at church and PAA school events, we all were frequent recipients of his warm, ready, contagious smile and sincere greetings. Losing a husband and father is one of the most overwhelming sorrows a heart can experience. We will be lifting you up in prayer during this painful time of grief and healing. May you feel God’s loving presence and peace as He walks through this valley with you.
Our love and condolence to each of you, Judy Westbrook and family
Dearest Hannacho, Jason and Jennifer,
Our world has lost an amazing and loving person. My heart is so heavy thinking of your incredible pain and loss. Dail was such a loving, kind and passionate person, someone everyone loved. When I think of Dail all I can see is a bright smile, warm hug and an outreach of love. He always cared about each person’s life and interested to know how each person was doing...this made him a perfect match for his intense profession! May God bless each of you and give you strength. Love and prayers, Anna

Uncle Dail & Auntie Hannacho visit me in Ojai..
My main memories of my Uncle Dail are of how kind and happy he was...always! Never a negative person, he was so easy to be around and love. I always loved seeing he and my Auntie Hannacho, Jason and Jen. Love him so much-he will be missed, but NEVER forgotten. He lives inside all of our hearts, and will continue to bring joy throughout our lives. What an honor to be a part of his life-very inspiring! Love you Uncle Dail..
Dear Hanacho , Jason and Jennifer,
Oh how our hearts ache for you all! We would like to say how sorry and shocked we were at the early tragedy of loosing Dail! Our prayers are with you as you try to navigate through this hard time.
Bob and I have appreciated being friends over the years, going back to when our kids were in school together. Dail was admired for his warm and friendly smile, always seeking us out to say hello and to catch up. In past years there were invitations to your home after church for lunch! You were wonderful hosts, together!
May the hope of Jesus, our dear Saviors return, be your comfort and peace during these hard days ahead.
With Love and caring sympathy,
Marna & Bob Carli
Before the election in 2016, my friend JR M and I were discussing Hillary Clinton and Dale joined our conversation. He assumed I was a fellow Democrat and instantly became a kindred spirit. When I tried to tell him I was actually a registered Independents , he would have none of it—“don’t waste your vote!” Whenever he saw me after that, he’d fill me in on the latest political news. I’ve missed him so much during the pandemic. Much love to his wonderful family
