Cynthia's obituary
Cynthia Starr Huszka
April 23, 1969 – February 8, 2025
Jacksonville, Texas
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cynthia Starr Huszka, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend. She left this world on February 8, 2025, at the age of 55, in Tyler, Texas.
A Life Lived Boldly
Born on April 23, 1969, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, Cynthia was the daughter of Judy Starr and Phillip Hoot. She grew up in East Texas alongside her mother and sisters, where her boundless energy and natural agility led her to join the cheer team.
As a teenager, she set off for California at the height of the skateboarding scene, embracing her adventurous spirit and love for sports. Cynthia was incredibly athletic but equally accident-prone—breaking her arm attempting an aerial at school, losing the tip of her finger while roller skating, and breaking her collarbone riding a bicycle with a missing chain. But no injury could slow down her fearless, daredevil soul.
That is, until life gave her something even greater to focus on—her two daughters, Abigail and Sophia Huszka. Cynthia and her family lived in Houston, where they built lifelong friendships and hosted countless lively gatherings. Wanting her girls to experience the charm and beauty of small-town life, she eventually moved to Marble Falls. There, she let her creativity shine, opening her beloved store, The Home and Garden Market. Her passion for design and celebration carried over into decorating homes, crafting elaborate birthday parties, and making even the simplest moments feel special.
In her later years, Cynthia found joy in life’s simple yet meaningful pleasures—spending time in her sister’s garden, tending to one too many rescue animals with her mother, playing pool, road-tripping with Rock N’ Roll blasting, and, of course, sending her daughters an endless stream of selfies to show off her latest hair color.
A Fierce & Unwavering Spirit
Cynthia was bold, fearless, and unapologetically herself—a woman who challenged ideas, stood her ground, and marched to the beat of her own drum. She was tough as nails, fiercely loyal, and would go to the ends of the earth for the people she loved.
Yet, above all her achievements, her greatest pride was her two daughters. No title, success, or milestone mattered more to her than being their mother—her most cherished and fulfilling accomplishment.
Family & Loved Ones
Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, Phillip Hoot, and sister, Sherry Starr.
She is survived by her mother, Judy Starr; her daughters, Abigail Rockey and husband Brendan Rockey, and Sophia Huszka; her sister, Pam Duke, and husband Robert Duke, and their son Wesley Starr; her sister, CeCe Davis, and husband Christopher, and their children; her brother, Cole Hoot, and wife Andra, and their children; her niece, Molly Reed, and husband Michael Reed, and their children; her niece, Mindy Ayadi, and her daughter, Daisy Smith; her aunt by choice Katalin Huvos-Rescy; her dear friend, Justin Gutierrez; and her beloved dog, Tokey, and cat, Verbito
Her love, strength, and unwavering spirit will remain forever in their hearts.
