I was thinking a lot about Cindy yesterday - feeling her and missing her large presence. Now, I am reminded of why... she lives on in our memories with that huge smile, courage, and ever-curious mind. Sending hugs to all!!

2025, Cynthia Pepper: an artful life, showing at COM Fine Arts Gallery
I spent the last hour on the last day of Cindy's wonderful show at COM gallery, looking closely and absorbing her vibrant often humorous and poignant work. I so loved her films being shown, as well. Her film about Olivia and Rosie as they danced and talked and grew up together and giggled about chocolate was especially moving. I wonder: what would Cindy's paintings have become if she had painted another 10-20 years? what new and amazing projects would she have produced? I am lucky to have know and worked with Cindy. what a gift she gave us: her energy and ideas and artwork !

When I first moved to Marin County over 25 years ago. Cynthia introduced herself to me at a Marin Ballet class for adults. She welcomed me into the dance community in Marin. Over the years our paths would cross as we revolved around each other in the wider San Francisco Bay Area dance community. I only recently learned that she had passed. I will miss Cynthia for the love, joy, dedication, and vibrancy she brought to her work as a dancer, educator, and creative.

I only found out yesterday from Lauren that Cynthia is gone. What a loss, and and what a beautiful sparkling soul she was! We met when we lived across the street from Cynthia & Val in the Dominican when Olivia & Rosie were just little girls, around 3 and 5. We spent time together, birthday parties, and so much more. Cynthia & I wrote the draft of a screenplay for a children's film way back when. She had the playful spirit of a child and so, so much creative talent. Our hearts go out to Val and the girls, and the rest of the family -- may her memory and bright spirit always be with you. Much love, Susan & Milton

I knew Cindy from her days at Virginia Tanner’s Creative Dance Studio, where she was a member of the renowned Children’s Dance Theatre. As a performer, Cindy was often downstage center – and for good reason. Her clarity of intent, focus, and inner beauty made her a magnetic performer. She was a beautiful dancer and a beautiful spirit. My condolences to her family and many friends.

My condolences to Cynthia's family. I didn’t have a chance to meet Cindy, but was best friends with her mother, Maggie, through all our school years. She was maid of honor in my wedding. She was so proud of Cindy and loved that she was a dancer. She sounds like a very talented and accomplished woman. From the photos I can see that she looks very much like her mom.

I met Cindy at CalArts more years ago than either of us would ever admit. She was always a beacon of inspiration and positivity but also down to Earth. She corrected my pathetically poor posture and became my friend along the way. Nothing was impossible to her. The joy she radiated and the sparkle in her eyes will forever be in my heart.

Cynthia was a lovely lady that I met at the JCC in the ladies locker room some years ago. We spoke about art and dance and about her husband and daughters and how she was so looking forward to the Fall wedding.
Cynthia was sweet and kind and funny and engaging and full of marvel about life in general.
I will miss getting her life updates as she walked out of the JCC, stopping to talk as I rode a stationary bike.
Dear family, you had a true gem!

Dear Olivia, Rose and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss and am holding you in my heart. You are very dear to the Tawonga community and we will say kaddish in Cynthia's honor in Makom Shalom on Saturday and will be thinking of all of you during the Mishebeirach.
Lots of love, Becca

Cindy is the person who knew me the longest - after my siblings - on Planet Earth... from when she came to visit my family in the Bay Area when we were 8 or 9... to my time living in SLC for 6th grade and seeing her perform... to college... to her creating the logo for my first business "Andiamo"... weddings... pregnancies... children - to most recently showing me her incredible strength (added to her "light, direct, and positive energy") when she took a call during our visit, "It's okay sweetheart, you do you and I'll do me." - That is Cindy... and her doing her was always with a smile, warmth, and confidence that made clear to all being her authentic self was enough... it was MORE than enough.
There is a hole left with her exit... and I am grateful that I will hear her voice ever more, "I am going beyond the rainbow." ... may all that is shared give strength and comfort, making steps lighter for Val, Olivia, Rose, and Cindy's "world", as we move forward one moment to the next, one event to the next, with the love, laughter, memories, and lessons from having been blessed by Cindy in our lives. z"l

My favorite memory was when Cynthia decided to do a video which featured our mailbox (which was a cow at the time). She was so excited about the project. She was always friendly and enthusiastic. So sorry to hear this news. My condolences to Val, Rosie &Olivia

I met Cynthia in 2019 at a dance workshop in Oakland. After class, she approached me and mentioned that I had the look and talent that model and talent agencies in the Bay Area would appreciate. That marked the beginning of our friendship and my modelling career.
I am deeply grateful to Cynthia for her tremendous support when I first moved to the Bay Area. She introduced me to a reputable model and talent agency, which opened up numerous job opportunities and auditions for me. Despite not seeing each other often, her supportive and caring nature continues to be a constant presence in my life. She is my lifelong mentor. Thank you Cynthia. You will be missed.

It’s with a heavy heart that I am writing this but I know Cindy is dancing with the angels in heaven. She left a wonderful legacy especially in Olivia, Rosie and Val. We will certainly miss her vivacious and loving spirit.

Cynthia was pure light and pure love. I felt bathed in both every single time I ever saw her. She was also pure and joyous creativity. I doubt she ever had a mean thought about anyone or anything in her entire life. The rarest and most beautiful of spirits. The way she lived her life, and her memory, is the greatest of blessings.
