Curt was a kind hearted helper, fixer, and social butterfly... he loved talking to everybody. Whether he knew you or not, you had a friend in Curt. He was extremely funny with a quick wit, and was an excellent ballroom & big band dancer.
Curt trained as a home builder under his father Harold (Jim) Rowe and later began Rowe and Son Construction in Columbus, Ohio. Eventually, Curt continued on focusing solely on remodeling in-between his first love, airshows.
Curt loved to fly and joined the CAF's Gulf Coast Wing in the early 1970's. He immediately became an exclusive life sponsor of the Texas Raiders (TR) - WWII Boeing B17 Bomber. Curt escorted TR to most airshows, movie projects, and flew her to Alaska. TR was his mistress.
If that wasn't enough, he was a Major in the Ohio Wing of the Civil Air Patrol. During his lengthy 30 year career with the organization, he trained thousands of his fellow flying cadets during hundreds of orientation flights and lost aircraft searches.
Curt and I first met when he flew TR to Alaska for a two-week barnstorming fly-&-show event at Fairbanks, Anchorage, and several bush villages. I flew my T28 alongside as guide. I was invited by the CAF's Gulf Coast Wing to the Wings Over Houston Airshow... and that began our 26 year life partnership. It has been an exhilarating, joyous, and fun ride.
Then on November 12, 2022, during the "Wings Over Dallas Airshow"... a smaller fighter plane (P63) flew into the back of the B17 midair, splitting TR in two... there were no survivors. Curt was among my dear friends on board that day. The tragedy is heartfelt throughout the airshow and WWII community. God bless them all...
Curt, you are surely missed down here... Love you, Dolores
