Curtis's obituary
Curtis was born March 11, 1945 to Curtis Talmage and Beryl Laverne (Giddens) Hendrix in Roscoe, Texas. He attended Sundown High School then joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho where he met the love of his life Connie Fay Fansler. They were joined in marriage June 29, 1964.
Together they spent 25 plus years in the West Texas area while he worked in the oilfield. They settled in Iraan, Texas in 1976 before relocating to Albany, Texas to own and operate a small RV park while he worked for the Shackelford County Sheriff’s Department.
He was an avid outdoorsman who had a passion for hunting, fishing, and camping. He spent countless hours building and engineering his latest creation. Endless memories will forever fill our hearts, as we each walked life’s journey with him.
Curtis was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Talmage and Beryl Laverne Hendrix.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Connie Hendrix of Albany; his daughter, Shona Bohon and husband David of Parker, Colorado; his daughter, Karrie Taplin and husband Mack of San Antonio and his son, Gerid Hendrix of Spring Branch. He deeply loved his grandchildren Devin (Bohon) and her husband Travis Lemmon, Seth Taplin, Sarah (Taplin) and her husband Aaron Castillo, Rylee Hendrix and great granddaughter Hazel Lemmon. He is also survived by his brothers, Vic Hendrix and Jack Hendrix; cherished sisters-in-law; extended family members and close friends.
Curtis heroically donated his body to UT Southwestern Medical Center. His hope was that research of his own medical conditions will lead to advanced treatment and cures for others.
At Curtis’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
