Curtis's obituary

Mr. Ray Hamilton, age 83, of Mt. Vernon, died Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was a native of the Kibbee Community and attended Kibbee schools before graduating from Vidalia High School in 1957. He retired after thirty years from Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon as Supervisor of Plant Operations Manager. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Vidalia, and was a former member of Sons of Confederacy Veterans. He was an antique collector; he enjoyed hunting, and loved his family very much. He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Tyson Hamilton; his former wife, Faye Spivey; and infant granddaughter; parents, Willie Bernard Hamilton and Lucy Rae McDonald Hamilton; one sister, Diane Hamilton Coursey; and one brother, Billy Hamilton.

His family includes three children, Mitch Hamilton and wife Donna of Lyons, Ben Hamilton of Statesboro, and Lourae Hamilton Clements of Richmond County; four grandchildren, Laura Hamilton Dowd and husband Taylor of Lyons, Madison Hamilton Thompson and husband Jake of Sylvania, Shelby Clements and Radley Clements, both of Rincon; two great-grandchildren, Rachel Dowd and Hamp Thompson; one brother, Bobby Hamilton and wife Jenny of Vidalia; several nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Sandra Holland.

A graveside funeral service will be Friday, April 1st, at 11:00 a.m. at McDonald Cemetery with the family receiving friends immediately following the service.
