Curtis's obituary
Formerly from Pembroke, NH. On Monday May 29, 2023, Curtis passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in Phoenix, Arizona after a brief illness. Born in Stoneham, Ma. on March 25 1945. Curtis was the son of Robert and Greta(Towse)Brown. He was raised on Maple St. in Hooksett NH. Curtis attended Hooksett elementary school and Pembroke Academy before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps from 1962-1966. Curtis is a veteran of the Vietnam war. After Curtis left the USMC he made his home In the Pembroke area. Curtis worked in sales and traveled the world. He was also an auxiliary state trooper for troop D from 1980-1984. Through out his life Curtis was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a firearm enthusiast. He traveled throughout New England competing in firearm competitions which lead him to hold the title of NH state marksman for serval years. He had a love for motorcycles, snowmobiles and corvettes. He was a diehard Nascar fan. He served on the Victory Lane committee for the NH Motor Speedway. Curtis then relocated to Apache Junction, Arizona for work and developed a love for the dessert. After meeting the love of his life in May 2007, Maxine, they married on May 3, 2008 and settled in Gold Canyon, Arizona. He volunteered for many local spca shelters, fostered and adopted many animals over the years. Curtis was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Greta Brown and a stepmother Janet Brown. Curtis leaves his wife of 16 yrs, Maxine Brown of Gold Canyon Az, a daughter, Diane Houston(Darrell) of Boscawen NH, a son Craig Brown of Nashua NH and a step daughter Lona Crehan of Phoenix Az, and a nephew whom he loved like a son Craig Collerette(Michelle) of Pittsboro NC. His grandchildren, Ashley Kurtz(steve), Chelsea Houston(Zach)and Dylan Houston of Boscawen NH. Brianna Uzdanovich(Chris) and Jesse Houston(Jessica) of Penacook NH. Marlee Doyon(Matt) of Chichester NH. Kirche Houston of Boston Ma. Nicholas and Jacob Brown of Kingman Az. His great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Carter, Bentley and Porter Kurtz, River and Denver Doyon, Alexander and Christopher Houston he also leaves behind his siblings Natalie(Bobbi)Powers of Apex, NC, Marilyn Munts(Calvin) of McComb, Ms., Richard Brown(Maria) of Spartansburg SC. , Michael Brown(Valerie) of Warner NH., and Katy Maleski(John)of Loudon, NH. Along with many stepbrothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration of life will be held in Arizona and in NH at a later date.
