Cullen's obituary

Cullen Harper, 78, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on April 28, 2026.

He was born on November 21, 1947, in Harrisburg, PA to Mariam Louise Rhein and William Murphy.

Cullen is survived by his daughters Sophie Kuzjak (Nicholas Kuzjak) and Isabel Harper; his brothers Brian, Joe, and Abe Harper; his granddaughters Marlow, Rosie, and June Kuzjak; and his former wife, Faris Harper, with whom he shared many years and remained close.

Cullen will be remembered for his love of animals, cars, fishing, storytelling and his grit and determination. In his younger years he loved playing basketball and baseball. He enjoyed drinking coffee by the river, home renovation, and took pride in restoring old cars until the end of his life. Cullen spent many years working in the shipping industry. He served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969 in the Americal Division (23rd Infantry Division) of the U.S. Army where he was wounded in combat.

A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund or the PTSD Foundation of America.
