Crystal Joy Reyes (Schroeder) was called home to eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 21, 2023.  A memorial service in her honor will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21st at Bridgepoint Church in Boise, Idaho.

Crystal was the first child born to Ronald Schroeder and Joyce Goetz on October 22, 1959. Born in California and spending her childhood in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Oregon, Crystal’s family eventually settled in Idaho.  The oldest of six girls, she was never without a playmate.  Plenty of innocent and carefree mischievousness outdoor fun was available for her to discover.  She would later share a story with her children of how as a child she broke her clavicle when she dreamt she was flying with Peter Pan and fell off the top bunk bed during her slumber.  As a child, Crystal was involved in her school choir and discovered her lifelong joy was in singing; particularly praise and worship songs after becoming a born-again Christian.

Crystal married her true love, Raul Reyes in 1977; they welcomed four children to their growing family over the next several years.  She and Raul would raise their family in Emmett, Idaho, where they appreciated the familiarity small-town life offered.  In addition to her most important job as “mom”, Crystal would also find herself working for a local bakery before gaining her real estate license and working for the same brokerage as her husband while meeting new clients--some of whom would become lifelong friends.

Crystal was a true woman of faith and considered her primary role to be a Christ-follower and share the Gospel at every opportunity.  Her children fondly remember her singing praise and worship songs while raising them (and beyond) regardless of what curveball life may have thrown her way.  In every moment, she would give God glory.  She was a true prayer warrior and included all her family and friends in her nightly prayers.  Some of her favorite times were helping to teach kids about Jesus during Sunday School.  She would carry this practice to each of her grandchildren and often gifted them their first Bible Stories books.

Crystal will be greatly missed by her children: Sunshine (Paris) Ricciardi of Las Vegas, NV, Desiree (Paul) Kohl of Nampa, ID, and Christian Ruel Reyes of Montgomery, TX; her mother Joyce Goetz Malone of Boise, ID; her sisters: Tina (Billy) Gloria of Emmett, ID, Michal Reed of Burleson, TX, Connie (Randy) Harrold of Caldwell, ID, Kathy (Brad) Rumsey of Fairfield, ID, and Pamela Monroe of Santa Monica, CA, and 13 grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her daughter Penelope Reyes, her husband Raul Reyes, and her father Ronald C. Schroeder.
