This was such devastating news to hear. My partner; Jacqie, and I met Cris this past summer while they were in Ottawa. Jacqie works at the Ottawa Jazz Festival and Cris was helping out with the fest while they were in town. I met Cris one night while we were hanging out back stage and we quickly bonded because we were both spending time with someone’s dog that was back stage with us. Cris mentioned they needed a place to crash and so Cris came home with us that night and spent a couple of days at our place. Our time with Cris was short but they were such a vibrant, positive, colourful and joyful force of nature, and they immediately and permanently left a mark on our life. It’s so heartbreaking to know that underneath everything they were suffering. I hope they have found peace and I hope that everyone in Cris’ life will heal in time.
One of my favorite memories of Cris is when I did his makeup for this group avant garde photoshoot. We had so many laughs together. You always made me smile Cris I’ll miss seeing you and yoli’s smiles. Rest easy my beautiful friend.
My cherished friend and comrade, may you rest in eternal peace and power. I will miss you dearly and hold your memory in my heart and mind forever. Safe travels compá.
