Craig's obituary

Craig Robert Thomas of Angier, NC  passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the age of 70 with his family by his side. He was born in Maryland on June 26,1953 to the late Tom Thomas and Betty Gilfillan (Zimmerman, Thomas). He was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School, class of 1971 and took great strides to maintain friendships with dear classmates.

Craig was the beloved husband of Laurie Lord Thomas for 36 years, He was the loving and devoted father of Kerry Thomas (Denise) of Auburn, PA, Rebecca DeSilva (Jay) of Roswell, GA, and Austin Thomas (Jordan) of Clayton, NC.

He was the proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren, Alyssa Thomas; Maddie, Nate and Olivia Bavely; Charley DeSilva; and Easton Thomas (due February 2024). He was the brother of Kurt Thomas, Brian Thomas, and the late Garry Thomas and Karen Anderson

Craig was a trusted and loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother, colleague, and friend. There was no favor you could ask that was too big or any length too great for him to go.

He was a valued and dedicated employee of Daubert Chemical in Chicago, IL for 28 years. Working was his passion and he took great pride in his work. As a result, he was begrudgingly planning his retirement.

Craig was a man who cared deeply for those around him, whether it be family or friend, neighbor, acquaintance or stranger. Craig was known for his strong will and stubbornness, his witty sense of humor and what we most lovingly refer to as his "Craigisms." He was generous, loyal, and truly brave. There was never a battle he would walk away from and he was our hero.

Above all, Craig was a man who dutifully served his Lord. He attended many churches over his lifetime and recently found a home at Amplify Church in Willow Spring, NC. Craig had a close relationship with Jesus and we are comforted knowing that he is sitting at the side of his Father in heaven and watching over his loved ones as our guardian angel.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Summit View, 934 South RT 183, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972 on December 9, 2023 from 11 AM - 3 PM. Please join us in paying our final respects to Craig and his family..

In lieu of flowers, his family requests that a donation be made in Craig’s memory to Amplify Church at 2884 NC-42, Willow Spring, NC 27592.
