Craig's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Craig Evenson, who left this world on September 28, 2025. Craig was born on December 16, 1954, in Belmont Iowa. His family moved to Bemidji Minnesota where he spent his childhood and early adult years.
Craig leaves behind his loving partner, Barb Olson, with whom he shared many incredible years. He was a cherished father to his daughter, Amy Evenson, and a revered grandfather to Elena and Isabella Evenson. His sisters, Kae Johnson and Joan Evenson, his brother, Dave Evenson, nieces and great-nephews & niece. His aunt, Alice Evenson, also survives him. Craig was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Marjorie Evenson, and his beloved daughter, Amandia Evenson
After high school Craig enlisted in the army which saw him serve two years in Germany. He relocated to St Paul, MN in 1987, where he worked at the Minnesota Department of Transportation until his retirement in 2015. Craig was recognized by his peers and friends as a hardworking and dedicated individual.
Outside of his work, Craig harbored a deep fascination with history, particularly the Civil War, and loved immersing himself in these subjects through books. He was a devoted fan of the TV show Jeopardy and took pleasure in solving crossword puzzles. Craig also found solace in walking in the woods and reading, activities that brought him closer to nature and expanded his knowledge.
In personality, Craig was a quiet, smart, and caring individual. His life was a living testament to his intelligence and compassion. The way he carried himself and treated others will continue to inspire and guide all those who knew him.
Although we mourn the loss of Craig, we also celebrate the remarkable life he led and the precious memories he left with us. We will be eternally grateful for the extra summer we got with him that was filled with great memories and many photos (at his request!). His spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
Services will be held next spring or summer in Bemidji Minnesota.
