Cornelius's obituary
Cornelius X. Stone Jr., 85, of Orlando Florida, passed on October 12, 2023, at a V.A. nursing home in Florida. Known as Neil by family and friends, was born in East Orange, New Jersey on November 7, 1937, by parents Cornelius Stone Sr. and Edna Martzen.
Neil was predeceased by his wife Catherine Stone (1997), his parents, and siblings Patrick and Dennis Stone. He is survived by his step-mom Mitsuko Stone, half-siblings Kathlene Whittemore, Sharon Keeney, and Timothy Stone, his three kids Karen-Ann Stone, Neil Stone (Dawn), and Christopher Stone (Emily), among his grandchildren; Vanessah Hall and Kevin Jr. Ratigan (Karen-Ann), Alicia and Rebecca Stone (Neil), and Nicole and Justin Stone (Christopher).
Neil Stone was a long-time resident of Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. He lived there for four years and found companionship with Maureen Crisp. After her passing in 2004, Neil moved to Orlando, Florida, where he lived out the rest of his life.
Neil Stone was a gentle and caring man who devoted his life to his family and the United States of America. Neil served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1959 on the USS Perry (DD-844), where he assisted in patrolling and escorting ships out of the Mediterranean Sea. He served in the Naval Reserve as a Petty Officer on the USS Lester in Newport, Rhode Island, and was a member of the US Army National Guard.
Neil worked for 35 years as a truck driver for Sunshine (Kebler). In his free time, he could be found lounging by the pool, roller skating competitively, taking care of his garden, and antiquing. Neil enjoyed traveling across the country to visit friends and family, no car ride was too far for him.
