Background

In honor of CJ, all of the donations raised here will be split into 2 donations towards things CJ really believed in.

Donation #1 will go directly to Father Louis's "Mission to the Beloved" in Haiti
As some of you may or may not know, CJ and I (Eli) traveled on a mission trip to Haiti in July of 2018 with our young adult group through the Archdioses of Miami with the Missionaries of Charity (missionary started by Mother Teresa.) While our stay in Haiti we traveled from Port-au-Prince to St. Anne's Cathedral in Ansea-a-Veau, to meet with and stay with, Father Louis Merosne. Among many things that we experienced and did, Father Louis took our group to the local prison/jail to pray over them and ask them for their needs. A 10x10 ft cell would host 30 inmates in the worst of conditions, such as extreme heat and overcrowding. Many of the inmates were in there for very small things, stealing a chicken because they were desperate to feed their family, and yet were in prison for 10 years waiting for a hearing with a judge. CJ was really taken aback by the conditions in which these people were held and treated. We prayed for them there, asked many of them their names and their stories in order to continue praying for them long after we would leave Haiti. CJ really took this seriously and always remembered the prisoners and their stories that we spoke to. CJ was appalled at the low level of human dignity observed in Haiti, as was I. Consider donating to Father Louis's mission, where he continuously works to improve the conditions of this prison/jail. CJ held this place and this experience very dear to his heart.

Donation #2 will go directly to Dr. Feun's Melanoma Research Fund
CJ was first diagnosed with Melanoma skin cancer in April of 2016. Immediately we went to go see the best of the best at the UM Sylvester Cancer Center and leading researcher of Melanoma skin cancer, Dr. Lynn Feun. Dr. Feun followed CJ's case very closely and when he was in the hospital visited him daily. Dr. Feun has been a clinical researcher in skin cancer focusing on Melanoma for the past 40 years, having trained in Texas at MD Anderson Cancer Institute. He has seen countless break throughs in Melanoma cancer research throughout his career with the many clinical trials he has conducted and led. Not only is this doctor extremely renowned for his knowledge in this type of cancer, he is extremely caring and was a source of great encouragement to CJ during the most difficult times while in the hospital. Given our relationship with this doctor, we encourage you to donate to his continued research in Melanoma. By giving to his fund you are contributing to research pursuits that we have specifically requested of him. I know that CJ was always up for new trials in order to make sure this did not happen to other people.
