Corazon's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful departure of our mom, Corazon Viola on January 16, 2024.
Known for her delicious cooking (her Mechado is THE BEST), and her penchant for playing a good game of scrabble, our mom loved the simple pleasures of life. She found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren and simply being the matriarch of our family.
Our mom embodied a spirit of strength and determination. She was a self-made woman, becoming a businesswoman from an early age, and carried with her an aura of perseverance. She was your typical 'dragon-mom', the strictest when we were children, but morphed into the warmest, most loving grandmother for Sergio and Sierra. Her teachings often revolved around the importance of family, a value she held above all else.
Her greatest accomplishment, as she would often say, was us, her family. Her legacy of strength and perseverance, and her entrepreneurial spirit continue to inspire us. She will always be remembered as a passionate cook, a strong-willed businesswoman, and, most importantly, a loving mom to us and 'mommyla' to her grandchildren.
Battling cancer for 10 years, our mom's life was a testament to the power of resilience and love, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. We take solace in the knowledge that her wisdom, and love will forever be part of our lives. We will miss you dearly, Corazon. Rest in peace.
Corazon leaves behind a loving family who cherished her dearly. She is survived by her son, Raymond Viola, her daughter, Cheryl Oakes, and her son-in-law, Brian Oakes. Her legacy will continue to live on through her adored grandchildren, Sergio and Sierra Oakes, to whom she was the warmest.
