Constance's obituary

Constance "Connie" Norton Harris passed into eternal rest on August 5, 2025, at home in Great Falls, Virginia, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on November 24, 1931, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, the only daughter of Mary (Tierney) and Joseph Norton.

Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Bob; her parents; her cherished brothers, Joseph and John Norton; and their two eldest children, Robert Mark Harris (wife Elaine) and Deborah Anne Seymour (husband Thomas).

Connie graduated from Lower Merion High School and later attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She married Robert (Bob) Harris, Jr., in 1952. Together, they built a life full of love, faith, and beauty, raising their five children on the Philadelphia Main Line. While managing a busy household, Connie also pursued work as a model with the Modeling Guild of Philadelphia, appearing in fashion shows, trade shows, and designer showcases throughout Pennsylvania. She later began her career as an interior designer with Sheffield Furniture in Paoli, Pennsylvania.

In January 1969, the family moved to Maine, where Bob established the real estate department at Maine National Bank. Connie soon embraced the opportunity to expand her talents in interior design, beginning at the Carriage House in Falmouth. Her passion and skill led her to launch her own firm, Design Interiors, which she operated from an elegant addition she designed and built onto their Yarmouth home. Known for a style that was timeless, graceful, and warmly inviting, Connie attracted both residential and commercial clients from across the East Coast.

Faith was a cornerstone of Connie’s life. In Yarmouth, she was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir, and contributed her design skills to the restoration of the sanctuary’s interior in 1978. She also served as President of the Village Improvement Society in Yarmouth.

In 1993, Connie and Bob moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, after Bob’s retirement. Connie continued her career with KPM Design and later with Monticello Limited. She was also devoted to volunteer work with the Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte and the University City Women’s Group. She was an active parishioner at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, where she lent her voice to the choir and supported many parish ministries.

Following Bob’s passing in 2017, Connie moved to Shads Landing Senior Living and, more recently, made her home in Great Falls, Virginia, with her son Greg and his wife Stacey, who cared for her with great love and devotion.

Connie was known for her elegance, refined style, and deep Catholic faith. She had a generous heart, a keen eye for beauty, and an unwavering love for family and friends. She was an avid reader and adored sports of all kinds.

She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Harris [wife Beth], Brian Harris [wife Joni], and Gregory Harris [wife Stacey]; twelve grandchildren, Jonathan, Katherine, Mathew, Colleen, Megan, Erin, Chrystelle, Michael, Thomas, John, Gabrielle, and Connor; nine great-grandchildren, Charles, Alice, Reagan, Parker, Isabella, Michael, Amelia, Keaira, and Jonah.

A funeral Mass in memory of Constance Norton Harris will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Great Falls, Virginia on Friday, August 29 at 1 pm.
