Connie's obituary
Constance (Connie) Marie Elligson (1942-2023) of Penticton, beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Henry Elligson, passed away peacefully August 3rd, just 2 days shy of her 81st Birthday.
Connie was born in Belleville, ON and grew up in the village of Point Anne on the Bay of Quinte. She was the first born of 5 children to Arthur and Pearl Genereux. Connie became a nurse and graduated from Stratford Nursing School. It was in Stratford where she met her husband Bill and whom she later married in 1962. Bill and Connie created a wonderful life together, raising 2 children (Todd & Clarissa). They lived the children’s early years in Kitchener and Elmira, ON. They moved west in 1981 to Grande Prairie, AB and set up home in the West. Connie continued to nurse in Alberta as a Hospital Administrator in Grande Prairie and when they moved to Calgary she continued as a nurse for Canada Red Cross. They spent a few years in Honduras to experiment with living out of country but ultimately returned and began a yearly trip to Marco Island in Florida where they would set up camp for 5 months of the year. They loved it there and the community of residents. You would often find Connie walking the beach and collecting shells or doing water exercises.
Bill and Connie waited patiently for grandchildren and were ecstatic when they started arriving (Abby, Ryan, Shannon & Shayla). They had much love to share with fishing, crafting, cooking & sewing. She volunteered regularly at the used clothing store and this continued when they eventually relocated to Oliver, BC in 2012. They often spoke of how happy they were in Oliver and really enjoyed the friends and church community. She loved to walk and even in her last years would do laps up and down the halls of the Seniors Residence in Osoyoos as well as in the dementia cottage at Village by the Station in Penticton.
Connie is survived by her two children, son, Todd Elligson and daughter, Clarissa (late Darrin) Zinger; Grandchildren Abby Zinger (Franco), Ryan Zinger, Shannon Zinger & Shayla Zinger and 3 Great Grandchildren, Ashurina, Ashur and Payton; also survived by her sister Jeanne (Bob) Melbourne & brothers, George (Cathy) Genereux, Paul (Brenda) Genereux & Kirk (Mary Ellen) Genereux.
