Connor's obituary

Connor Michael Hannah

December 10, 2023

Polk City, FL

Connor was an extraordinarily special young man with the most amazing soul you will ever meet. From birth he had an uphill battle but he never let that stop him, nor break him. He was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Connor had to have 3 open-heart surgeries with the first surgery at 10 hours old. He suffered an ischemic stroke during the second surgery at 6 months old resulting with right-sided hemiparesis (weakness). He learned sign language due to delayed speech, and went through years of speech, OT and PT. And again none of these stopped him.

As a child he loved to make you laugh, and had an infectious laughter as well. Oh, yes, he also had a mischievous side that he often paired up with his siblings for a good time. Making a game out of simple things usually lead to memorable moments.

Connor loved working out, video games, drumming, Spider-Man (Tom Holland) with Batman and chess being his most favorite! No matter who Connor came in contact with, he made a connection, stronger than any of them imagined. Early in his life he wanted to be like his dad, and go into the military. But when the realization set in that wouldn’t be an option, he took his mom’s similar path - helping people restore their active lives and become a stronger version of themselves. Connor was on his way to being a personal trainer and life coach. Connor talked about becoming a chess coach in addition to all the other avenues of helping he wanted to do.

He thought of others before himself, because of all the people who helped him along the way. Connor may have had a physically small heart but he was the biggest hearted person you could ever meet. He wanted to help people even if he never got paid. He has always been surrounded by love.

In his very short life, Connor managed to touch and meaningfully impact the lives of so many people. He just had a way of getting you to play chess, video games or some other activity with him - you just couldn’t resist! He was a giving person, and wanted to continue giving through his passing and opted to become a donor when he received his first ID.

Connor is survived by his mother, Julie; father, Shawn; older sibling, CeeJ; step-dad PIC, David; step-mom, Theresa, and step-siblings; Shyla, Alex and Megan .  Grandparents, Robert, Christine, Chris, Robin, DeeDee and Roger, and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his step grandmother Judy, and step-uncle Robert.
