Connie's obituary

Connie was born on May 26, 1957 in Sacramento to Don and Lois Medina. She was the eldest of five kids. Connie grew up in Fair Oaks, CA in a large, close-knit family. Connie was often responsible for her younger siblings while both of her parents worked. She often told fond stories of these early days with her siblings. She talked about giving the kids their baths at night, feeding them spaghetti (too often), and all the noise that came with a big family. She took on a lot of responsibility for a young girl, but that only helped her to be a young mother. Connie was married in 1973 and gave birth to her daughter, Kelly later that same year. She later divorced and stayed single for many years. During this time it was always “Connie and Kelly”, they grew up together. She would sometimes pick Kelly up from school early and take her to a matinee just so she could “spend some time” with her. In 1986, she married for a second time and had a son, Nick…. He was the apple of her eye. She always said that she “prayed for a little boy” and she got her wish. If any of you played sports in Galt Youth Leagues in the 90’s, then you know she was there cheering Nick on (loudly) in all his endeavors. Connie lived in New Jersey for several years, but most of her adult life was in Galt, CA. Connie went to school to become a Registered Dental Assistant, she worked for over thirty years in this profession. She was dedicated to her patients and her profession, often finding some of her closest friends in her co-workers. Connie could often be found making tortas in her kitchen on Sunday mornings, with the 49ers game on and a freshly made jar of sun tea on the counter. Sometimes you would find her folding clothes with the Eagles or the Beetles blaring throughout the house. She lived her life the way she wanted to live it, some people fault her for that, but her kids don’t. She was just their mom that they loved very much. Connie, unfortunately had ongoing health issues for many years. On February 4, 2025 she went to be with her mom Lois, her brother John, and her sister Liz.

Survived by: Connie is survived by her daughter Kelly Carr (Jon Carr) and her son Nick Smith (Janelle Cross). Grandchildren Zachary Bautista, Jon Carr, Maximillian Bautista, Ryan Carr, Jackson Bautista, Ace Smith, and Indie Smith.

Preceded in death by: Her mother, Lois DaPonte; her father, Donald Medina; her brother John Medina and her sister Liz France
