Colleen's obituary

Colleen Terese (Murphy) Carmitcheal, 66, of Olathe, KS passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the KC Hospice House, surrounded by her children and family. She had bravely fought a battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer for the past 3 ½ years.

Colleen was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on May 30, 1956. She was the sixth child of Connie and Paul Murphy who had nine children, six girls and three boys. At age 6, her family moved to Roeland Park, KS and later relocated to Little Rock, AR. After high school, she moved back to Kansas and married Jack Carmitcheal on September 25, 1980. They enjoyed over 25 years years of marriage together, while raising three children, Lindsay, Abby and Brian. Throughout those years Colleen ran an in-home daycare and later started her own house cleaning business.

Colleen loved her family and enjoyed that being the focal point of her life. She also enjoyed music, going to concerts and spending quality time with friends, family and especially her grandchildren.

Colleen is survived by her three children; Lindsay James, and her daughter Camryn; daughter Abby Puckett and her two sons Matthew and Brady; and her son Brian Carmitcheal and daughter-in-law Mary and their four children, Jack, Blake, Luke and Emma. She also leaves her siblings, Patrick (Mary Clare) Murphy; Mary (Charles) Stebbins; Paula (Norm) Hendricks; Mark (Lynette) Murphy; Maureen (Gary) Bowden; Jodi (Glenn) Heer; and Shelley Allen. She also leaves many nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces and grandnephews and very dear friends. She will be greatly missed as she was so loved by all of her family.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Paul and Conradine Mae Hoeltje Murphy, as well as her baby brother Michael Paul Murphy.
