Colin's obituary
“Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.” ― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Colin Robb was a man of many talents. He was incredibly well-read and, one could say, "well-viewed". He loved reading, and he loved movies, and Colin could readily expound upon either with an eloquence and passion one usually reserves for sporting events. Holy cats, he was brilliant.
He was multi-faceted: an expert in his field who expected excellence; a proud nerd who reveled in all things tech, science, and sci-fi; a voracious reader, often finishing several books a week; he had an encyclopedic knowledge of film, and he educated many on aspects of movies one would never even consider.
And his work? Please. No one could wrangle a technical project faster. No one could review the most spaghetti-laden code with his efficiency and well-deserved judgment.
Colin even had a tattoo that spelled out "NERD" in hexadecimal code that he spent weeks creating. He was that cool.
But again, there were so many wonderful aspects to Colin: haberdashery (those hats!), quality rum drinks (and all the history therein), music, food... the list is long. Spend a few moments with him, and you started to wonder why other people are not as fascinating, or why your other friends are not this smart. But more than any of that, he was a fiercely loyal friend who stood by his chosen family in difficult and dark times, who shared the good and the bad equally, and saw the best in the people he loved. Great Caesar's ghost, was he full of love.
We have all lost someone special. The world has lost his light. Colin was so much to so many, and there is a Colin-sized void that will always be there. Toast him, early and often. He'd love that.
