I met Colin when he, Ben and David travelled to Costa Rica after passing the bar exam and my friend Sian and I were doing a Spanish course before heading to university in England. We only hung out with the guys and played pool for a couple of days - but Colin was so kind, funny and obviously loved life and being with his friends. I didn’t know him well at all, but can tell he was special to so many.

On occasion I would happen to walk past Colin and Jack during drop-off at West Hills Montessori. I couldn’t help but stop and smile. Those were the most jovial, kind and gregariously loving drop-offs I have ever witnessed. It struck me what an openly effusive person he was. Those memories will be etched in Jack forever. I am so sorry for the family’s deep loss. Sending love. Julie

Colin cooked the first Thanksgiving meal I’d ever had away from home. It was Sean’s and my 1L year at Oregon Law, and Colin invited us to his place. Man, he could cook! We were so lucky to know him, and be the recipient of his kindness. Colin was a generous, thoughtful, and fun-loving friend. We are better for knowing him, and we send our condolences to his wonderful family and all of his friends. XOXO, The Rays

I am so, so sorry to hear that Colin has passed. When I told my colleagues at Black Helterline that I was pregnant with my first child, the other associates quickly organized a gift basket for me. I suspect that Colin (and Evyan, even) were the driving force behind this effort. He brought it to my home, himself, and enthusiastically explained why I may need some of the things in the gift basket - things like carabiners, a white noise machine, and a baby bath accessories. Having a colleague put so much thought into such a personal gift at such an important moment meant so much. And when I told him that a homeless relative would soon have their own baby, he quickly got me a crib to pass on to them. I will never forget his kindness and big heart.
