Coleen's obituary
Coleen Sullivan, 69, of Englewood, CO, peacefully passed away on February 15, 2024, surrounded by her cherished friends and loving family.
Coleen, born on November 2, 1954, to Ronald and Martha Sullivan in Boise, Idaho, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world as the eldest daughter of six siblings. In 1965, along with her family, she relocated to Colorado, where she forged lifelong friendships. Coleen shared unconditional friendship and love with many she attended Jr High and High school with over 56 years ago, always standing by them in times of need. She graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1972 and embarked on a journey of lifelong learning and achievement.
After high school, Coleen embraced various paths, experiencing the richness of life. She spent time on the slopes, ventured into the restaurant industry, and even pursued nursing school until motherhood intervened. As a devoted mother, she poured her heart into raising her three children, instilling in them values that would guide them to remarkable accomplishments. Later in life, she returned to academia, earning a degree in electronics—a testament to her resilience and determination, particularly noteworthy as one of the few females in her program. Her crowning professional achievement came in her role as a developer for media buying, where her brilliance and quick grasp of concepts were truly exceptional, leaving an indelible mark on her colleagues and friends.
Coleen's interests were as diverse as her talents. She possessed a curious mind that gravitated towards creative expression, whether through gardening—where she was a master, spending countless hours nurturing her plants—or photography, where she displayed a keen eye for capturing the beauty of the world around her. Her love for her craft was surpassed only by her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she shared a unique and magical bond. From jewelry-making to gaming and singing to coloring, Coleen embraced every moment with her grandchildren with boundless enthusiasm and love.
In addition to her passion for family and friends, Coleen devoted herself to helping others, exemplified by her crochet skills, through which she and a group of friends crochet 550 ladder ribbon necklaces as a fundraiser for Better Everyday, an organization supporting chemo patients. Her compassion knew no bounds, and even in her own time of need, she continued to give selflessly.
Coleen's absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of many. She was preceded in death by her brother Patrick Sullivan, sister Theresa Sullivan, and nephew Ashton Croft. She is survived by her parents Ronald and Martha Sullivan, brother Michael Sullivan, sister Karla Franklin (married to Obadiah Franklin), sister Shannon Croft (married to Kevin Croft), daughter Anna Rutter (married to David Rutter), son Esteban Lopez (married to Mandy Lopez), daughter Jacqueline Lopez-Horsch (married to Tim Horsch), grandchildren Emma, Elias, Magdalena, Sullivan, Savannah and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews whom she adored immensely.
