Cole's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cole Smith, a beloved family member, friend, and co-worker. Born on June 4, 1997, Cole left us too soon on January 2, 2024. His vibrant personality, contagious laughter, and loving heart will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Cole is survived by a large, loving family, including his mother, Katherine Reeley; his step-mothers, Rachel Grant and Kimberly Smith; his father, Jerry Smith; his brother, Andrew Smith; his sister, Stephanie Smith; his sons, Cayde Crozier and Odin Smith; his niece, Emma Smith; his aunts, Lisa Reeley and Kris Gorman; his uncle, Jason Reeley; his grandparents, Luanne Cayler, William Cayler, and Shirley Smith; and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Jerry Smith, and his cousin, Kody Kirsch.
A dedicated worker, Cole held the same job from the age of 18 until his untimely death. He was well-respected and adored by his colleagues, who referred to themselves fondly as the "Olive Garden family."
Outside of work, Cole had a deep appreciation for Japanese culture. He enjoyed anime, Studio Ghibli movies, and Japanese art. His taste in music was eclectic, but he had a particular fondness for the band, Sleep Tokken. He was also an avid board game enthusiast, with Monopoly, Clue, and Uno among his favorites.
Not one to stay indoors all the time, Cole loved to keep fit at the gym and cherished vacations in the mountains. An animal rights advocate, Cole was compassionate and caring in all aspects of life. His favorite colors, pink and purple, matched his vibrant and warm personality. Cole was a funny, caring, compassionate joker, always finding a reason to laugh and bring joy to others.
His legacy is a testament to a life lived with kindness and laughter. Cole made it his mission to find humor in everyday life and to treat every creature—human or animal—with gentleness and respect. This beautiful spirit was reflected in every part of his life, from his passion for his work to his love for his family and friends. As we mourn his absence, we also celebrate his life and the indelible mark he left on our hearts.
Cole will be deeply missed by his mother's family, his father's family, and his Olive Garden family. In memory of Cole, let us remember to be kind, to laugh often, and to cherish every moment.
