Cloteal's obituary

Cloteal Carter, 98, of Longview, TX passed away to live with her Heavenly Father on June 26, 2023.  

Cloteal was born December 29, 1924 in Rusk County to the parentage of John and Elena Beckworth. She grew up in Mayflower, TX where she attended local schools and Smith Chapel Church. 

She was a cook where she exhibited her talents at Marcham Hospital for years, then later worked for Good Shepherd Medical Center from which she retired. 

Cloteal was a faithful member of Mt. Olive  Baptist Church where she served in various capacities, including the Mass and Missionary choirs, hospitality service/Kitchen Ministry, Sunday school teacher, and Craft Expert for Vacation Bible School.

In her early life she married Edward Carter and was the proud mother of eight children.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Elena; her husband Edwin; children, Myra Campbell, Frank Devance, Espanola Carter and John Earl Carter.

 She is survived by children; Maxine Bowens of Longview, TX;  George Carter (LaTonya) of Marshall, TX; Ceolar Faggans (Rockland) of Longview, TX; Vickie Lynn Carter of Longview, TX; 22 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 23 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and many loved ones. She will be dearly missed and her beautiful smile will always be remembered.
