Claudette's obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Claudette Messelhauser, a mother, grandmother and friend to all who graced our lives until she was called home to her heavenly Father on February 23, 2024. Born in 1937, in Manhattan, NY, Claudette's life was one of love, warmth and boundless generosity.
In September of 1958, she wed William (Mickey)Messelhauser, and together they began their journey in Laurelton, NY. Soon after, Claudette and Mickey welcomed their sole daughter, Suzanne, and raised her in their charming family residence in East Meadow, NY.
Claudette's home was a comforting haven of hospitality, where she found joy in cooking for her family and friends. In fact, one of her cherished jobs was at a deli, where she honed her culinary skills in the kitchen. She delighted in having guests in her home where holidays, special occasions and accomplishments were celebrated.
Claudette's heart overflowed with love for others, especially for her grandchildren. In the late 90's Claudette and Mickey departed from New York to California, eager to be closer to Suzanne and her husband Ken, and their expanding family circle. Claudette adored not only her grandchildren but also embraced all children with open arms, treating each one as if they were her own. Her love for children extended to supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
In 2012, Claudette relocated to her cozy home in Coarsegold, CA. She spent the latter years of her life enjoying time with her grandchildren, cherishing moments with family and friends, and nurturing her Catholic faith.
Preceded in death by her husband William Messelhauser, and survived by her daughter, Suzanne Ousey, son-in-law Ken Ousey, grandchildren Christine & Frank Conti, Kevin & Blanca Ousey, Michelle Ousey & Jason Munk, Wyatt Ousey and Isabelle Ousey, and great-grandchildren Antonio, Zoe, Kendall, Renzo and Esteban. There are countless others, whom she considered family, who held a special place in her heart, a testament to her inclusive and nurturing nature.
Her presence illuminated every gathering, her kindness, humor and playful spirit leaving a mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. While we mourn her absence, we find solace in knowing she is in the presence of our Lord.
A funeral Mass will be held on April 5, 2024, at 11:30 am at St. John Vianney Church in San Jose, CA. All who knew and cherished Claudette are invited to join. Following Mass, Suzanne and Ken Ousey will be hosting a celebration of Claudette's remarkable life , to honor her memory, and to find comfort in the love and compassion she shared with us all.
