Happy heavenly birthday Claudette. When we celebrated your 60th birthday you had so many people come, I was impressed. Do you remember dieting for two weeks before your birthday? We all at West End always gave you hard time about your dieting, but you always looked terrific. We loved you. 🌹🌸💐
It was with great sadness that I learned today through a mutual friend of Claudette’s passing.  Hugh, you and your family, have my deepest sympathy.  Though we have lost contact in the years after graduating law school, I recall with enormous fondness the many times that we shared company, often in the back yard of your wonderful home.  Claudette was a unique star in my life, and in the lives of all who she knew.  The obituary says she gave her all to all and that and more to Hugh.  That is a fact!  Her passing leaves a great hole in the lives of her family, but one that has to be filled with memories of her laughter and vivacious personality.  While some 10 months have passed since she departed, I feel the sadness of her departure and a fraction of the loss to her family.  I wish you peace and many fond memories!

Just found out. My deepest condolences, Hugh and family.  Claudette? Not here? I'm heartbroken. We probably return to Nirvana, not sure it matters from here. It's her absence that means the most.

Got an email from you, Hugh, a week or two ago. Kept looking for it to reply that I wouldn't make it to your event. What I intended was to tell you and Claudette that you and she mattered among  of all those I considered friends, who were almost always quite friendly, as over time we all went about our lives.  However, remember when I called you about the bank officer giving me  a hard time? Details lost in the past. You called him and straightened him out,  a true friend helping who could help. Did I ever tell you, that bank official complained  that you had scared the bejesus out of him? Ha! Take That, buddy, I know Hugh Lowe! 'course I  really didn't say that.

Claudette,  long ago she was one of 20 or so friends I wrote letters to,  asking for $10 or $20 to help with dental work. No answer from anyone but Claudette with a sweet letter and $20 or $25.  It helped, and I learned the valuable lesson not to ask anyone for help anymore, and the even more valuable lesson that Claudette was a true friend, as are you.  Her kindness, calm, and friendship will be remembered and her presence wil be missed.

Without knowing it she influenced my career choice of becoming a real estate broker, she was in the back of my mind as an example of how a neighborhood activist and woman could succeed.
Parties in the Lowe’s beautiful backyard we’re always fun & memorable.  Her active participation in neighborhood preservation will be so missed.  She was a champion for that cause.  She was just all-around amazing!

Claudette made any work fun and put the hip in historic preservation. She helped make Travis Heights a truly neighborly neighborhood. I saw her recently, as usual bubbly and spry, excited to be off to see her grandsons. Thank you, Hugh, for sharing her and your home for countless committee meetings, parties, fundraisers etc. When you two were side by side it was truly magical.
She was a lovely, nice, kind person. She made the world a better place.

CLAUDETTE

Claudette, are you magically circling around,

Collecting all the happy, loving thoughts

We are having about you?  I hope you know

How much I loved getting to know you

After all the years of having known you,

Hey! We were having a good time

You left so quickly – good for you

A relief to know it was quick, like “Good night”

And you just left, never to awaken again,

At least not in this life, I am in shock,

And not, at the same time; would that we could

All be so fortunate to just go, be gone, “Ta Ta”,

I would always hope the best for you, as I know

You would for me. You lived a good life and

You left the world a better place for having been here,

Where are the sisters? They preceded you, Libby, Ann,

Dorothy, the real royalty of Austin, I can only hope,

I will just assume that you are now in that good company

That modeled the way I hoped to be, strong women

I certainly could see the beauty of the sisterhood,

When I no longer feel your presence, I will mourn

But I do not think your memory will fade

Anytime soon.

Roger and I were so sad to hear about Claudette's passing. Our sympathies to Hugh and Zack, as well as all her friends. The community will miss her.
I was so very sorry to hear about this. My condolences to Hugh. Claudette was such a wonderful soul, such a bright light to all who were lucky enough to know her. She was responsible for getting me deeply involved in neighborhood politics. I will forever remember and think fondly of working with her on neighborhood and city issues, partying with her, just being around such a positive, fun, sweet, loving person.
