My late husband, José Méndez, met Fitz in Fort Hood. They became very good friends. José always remembered the good times after work at Fitz’ home garage and the lessons he taught him.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Rita and your family. All my love in this hard time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Expressing deep appreciation for the long and faithful US Army Service of Claude David Fitzpatrick II, for our nation. Prayers are ascending to heaven for comfort for his family and friends in their loss. May he rest in his new “heavenly deployment” with his Savior and preceding loved ones.

He promised he would dance with me on my wedding day and he did. He was soooo proud! One of my favorite memories I have with him. After that dance he promised he’d stick around to meet my kids, I’m sooo thankful for the time they had with him. I’ll miss his smile lighting up the room every time I came home to visit. I’ll miss his hugs and kisses on the head. So many memories and so much pain with this goodbye. Till we meet again Pappap. I love you always.
It's with a heavy heart and plenty of tears as I say goodbye to another 💔 😢 wonderful person and friend who always smiled.

Sadly I didn’t really get to know Claude & Rita well until after his stroke. My dad, Mickey, was friends with them both, and spoke highly of them. My dad fell ill about the same time as Claude and Rita was a huge support to me. I got to know them better on weekly zoom calls between my dad, Claude, Rick Bennett and Art Gionta. The four men would tell a joke, share their stories of their military experiences, talk about their families and encourage Claude and  my dad. It was a privilege to know Claude. My prayers are with Rita and the entire family as they learn to live without him. May all the memories of him be a blessing to you all!
I met Claude April 2016, my first day as a member of the VFW 4380 Plano Post. We became friends immediately. It was because of Claude's convincing way, he talked me into accepting a Jr. Vice Commander position. I accepted only because I looked up to his leadership qualities and personality. When Claude's health prevented his VFW involvement our friendship continued and had many visits with him as well as his wife Rita. I will always have fond and fun memories of Claude... my past Commander and friend. RIP my friend…. You will be missed by all!!! Prayers out to Rita & family!!!
